Project

What do we want to achieve?

The project “Activation and Awareness of 16-30 year olds in the exercise of civic duties” aims to make young people aware and active in civic rights and duties, such as voting, active participation in local youth government and the basics of civic awareness. It aims to increase the turnout and awareness of young people’s choices when actively participating in broader civic life, i.e., presidential elections, parliamentary elections, local elections, euro-parliamentary elections, and involvement in local issues as a civic community.

How do we want to achieve this?

Among other things, through meetings with decision-makers, including members of the European Parliament and representatives directly related to the operation of the European Union, which will allow us to promote pro-European attitudes and familiarize young people with the priorities and goals of the EU.

We also anticipate numerous meetings between young people and both local and national decision-makers. The various venues where the project’s activities will take place will help integrate youth and decision-makers at the local, as well as national and European levels, as their findings will be translated into English and reach a wider audience.

Objectives of the project

The aim of the project is to increase turnout and awareness of choice among young people during elections held in the Poland and beyond, as well as through their own civic initiatives, or participation in those already present such as civic budgets. In this way, we will be able to prepare young people for future life in a democratic state, and show them how they can influence its development and future changes.

We assume that:

  • the degree of satisfaction among young people with the current politics of the country will increase
  • youth will increase their knowledge of how to match their own views with the electoral programs of specific parties, they will be more aware of which direction they should go, taking into account their own views and beliefs
  • youth will become more familiar with the electoral process
  • young people will increase their awareness of the impact of their vote on the democratic life of the country
  • youth will learn about different forms of being an active citizen
  • youth will learn how to talk to decision-makers and argue their case
  • youth will have a real impact on developing recommendations for decision-makers on increasing youth participation and awareness in civic life
  • youth will learn to formulate recommendations and prepare promotional videos
  • youth will increase their knowledge in the topics of civic and political awareness.

Who are we targeting with the activities?

The main participants of the project are young people aged 16-30. Thanks to the participation of young people from different cities, we have a chance to go with the activities beyond the borders of Lodz and involve young people from a much larger part of the province. The project is aimed at young people interested in civic attitudes. We will also invite youth educators to join the activities.
